While we were watching the boys, it was fun to also watch the mamas and their babies – the little baby as well as the big baby!

Alpha was giving Storm a motherly scratch on the withers while they – and Gideon – watched the goings-on among some of the boys.

They are gorgeous beyond words. Many thanks. Our wild horses must be saved.
My goodness, Gideon! How he’s grown! So big compared to when he was just a little baby.
Isn’t he a cutie? All the babies look big this year … but I think I probably think that every year. 😉
beautiful! i’m curious, do you do any editing on these photos (besides cropping)?

Besides cropping, usually just a boost to contrast, maybe a little lighter/brighter, and sharpening (unsharp mask), and that’s it. I am NOT knowledgeable in the ways of Photoshop, so I make the most of what I know about my camera’s settings when I shoot (ISO, white balance, etc.). I almost always shoot in aperture priority to control the depth of field unless the light is iffy, then I shoot shutter priority to make sure (or mostly hope!) I got the focus. I haven’t quite graduated to shooting fully manually. Shooting high school sports (in mostly bad light) in my last job and photographing horses has taught me a lot about my camera!
